Meet the Team: Curtis Byrd

Title: Print Manager
Roles: Ensures all high-quality printing, plays the drums like a rock star
Big Visual Group Employee Since: 2010

Curtis Byrd is a skillful, friendly guy who holds the title of Print Manager at Big Visual Group. He’s an Anniston, Alabama, native who has worked in the printing industry in a variety of ways throughout his life. In Alabama, he started his printing career by producing designer checks and personalized checks, which then led to him becoming a graphic designer and plate mounter. Curtis then ventured to Nashville in 2001 with his wife. When he made the move to Tennessee, he worked at Precision Signworks, which was later acquired by Big Visual Group. He gained experience and knowledge there about vehicle wrap printing, trimming, and welding.

When talking about the print industry, Curtis said, “I think it’s wonderful that our industry helps people communicate their image and brand. We can bring to life a client’s vision.”

In Curtis’ role at Big Visual Group, he does a lot of pre-press work and makes sure that everyone is G7 compliant and certified. He makes sure the whole print department is running smoothly, helps whenever print problems arise, and ensures that everyone is working a day ahead of schedule. He runs the 16-foot wide Matan printer every day, too. There are many factors that go into making sure every print piece that comes out of his area looks top-notch, which Curtis handles like a pro.

As a musician, Curtis loves living in Music City. Outside of work, Curtis enjoys playing and listening to music. If you’ve ever been to Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge on Broadway, you might’ve seen Curtis playing the drums. He truly loves the music industry and even has three cats that have music-themed names—Porter, Dolly, and Gracie!
